Alabama REALTORS® Membership Meeting Recap
December 14, 2021
On December 7, Alabama REALTOR® members from across the state met to consider several governance proposals from a Governance Presidential Advisory Group (“PAG”) to update AAR’s Constitution and Bylaws for greater clarity and consistency. Following the meeting, members convened for coffee, dessert, and networking before returning home. Members in attendance considered 10 proposed Motions, approving eight into immediate effect. Two did not pass and will go back to the PAG for further review. The updated Constitution and Bylaws governing document can be found here. A summary of the action can be found below:
Motion 1- Constitution and Article I: The governance proposal would amend the constitution and bylaws to provide greater clarity, consistency, and add the Vision statement. The motion did not pass and will go back to the Governance PAG for further review.
Motion 2- Article III: The governance proposal passed to amend the bylaws to be more consistent with Association policy.
Motion 3- Article V: The governance proposal passed to amend the bylaws to be consistent with the recently updated Whistleblower policy.
Motion 4- Article VI: The governance proposal passed to amend the bylaws to update and simplify the timing of Board meetings.
Motion 5- Article VII: The governance proposal passed to amend the bylaws to be consistent with Association policy and provide greater clarity on information provided for a Membership meeting.
Motion 6- Article VIII: The governance proposal passed to amend the bylaws to provide clarity to the current standing committees and be consistent with the recently updated Association policy.
Motion 7- Article IX: The governance proposal would amend the bylaws to provide greater clarity on elections and dates to be consistent with Association practice. The motion did not pass and will go back to the Governance PAG for further review.
Motion 8- Article XII: The governance proposal passed to amend the bylaws to reflect NAR’s renewal cycle for Code of Ethics education.
Motion 9- Article XIII: The governance proposal passed to amend the bylaws to provide general updates, revisions, and clarity to the professional standards process.
Motion 10-Article XVIII: The governance proposal passed to amend the bylaws to be simplified and consistent with the recently updated Harassment policy.
