Alabama REALTORS® Board of Directors Meeting Recap

The 2022 Alabama REALTORS® Board of Directors met on Wednesday, August 31 at the Alabama REALTORS® Building in Montgomery. The Board reviewed the 2023 General Fund Budget, considered a motion to provide affiliate members the option to join the state or local association, and conducted other Association business. A summary of the action can be found below:
- 2023 General Fund Budget: The Board of Directors reviewed and approved the 2023 Budget. The budget reflects a steady REALTOR® membership from 2022 to 2023. After retiring the building debt earlier this year, the Board will now focus on increasing the Building Reserve Fund for required maintenance and upkeep as the building ages.
- Affiliates: The Board of Directors approved a proposal to allow Affiliate members to choose to join either the State Association, Local Association, or both.
- New Member Processing Fee: The Board of Directors approved an increase in the New Member Processing fee of $200. This proposal will take effect beginning January 1, 2023.
- Annual Conference: The Board of Directors encouraged all members and leaders to attend the Annual Conference in Birmingham at Ross Bridge Resort on October 11-13 this year.
- REALTORS® Foundation: The 2nd Annual Alabama REALTORS® Foundation Golf Tournament will be held on October 11 as part of the Annual Conference.
- Foundation Scholarships: The Education Scholarship Application period is now open and the deadline to apply is December 1.
- Statewide Legal Forms: The 2022 Forms Review Group and AAR’s Legal team will be reviewing the forms for updates and adding more forms for 2023. Member surveys will be distributed in September.
- Public Policy and Legal Forum: The Board received a report on current issues affecting members and their businesses and potential solutions being considered. The Public Policy and Legal Forum will be held later this Fall. This program will build on the Public Policy Survey from this summer and the upcoming legal forms survey.
- ARPAC: The Board received a report on current ARPAC Fundraising and the upcoming General Election in November.
- 2023 Code of Ethics Enforcement: The Board discussed the importance of the Code of Ethics Enforcement Panels and were encouraged to consider serving the Association on one of the panels.
- Report from the Executive Committee: The Executive Committee reported on progress of the Elections PAG and other task forces; requested feedback on building maintenance and roof replacement options; and discussed providing more commercial services and becoming more engaged in economic development efforts to help grow Alabama.
