The 2024 Alabama REALTORS® Board of Directors met on Tuesday, December 12 at the Alabama REALTORS® Building in Montgomery for their first meeting of the new year. The Board conducted annual board training and orientation, reviewed goals for 2024, discussed legal challenges affecting our members’ businesses, updated the Board on pending Association projects; shared feedback on future Association business; and conducted other Association business. Following the meeting, directors enjoyed a holiday-themed lunch and fellowship at AAR. A summary of the action can be found below:

• National Board of Directors: The Board of Directors approved a policy to revise and modernize language in alignment with the NAR’s Board of Directors current requirements. 
• Financial Reports: The Board of Directors approved a policy to outline the Association's financial management procedures and reporting requirements. 
• Funds, Investments and Disbursements: The Board of Directors approved a policy to clarify the processes and practices related to primary accounts, reserve funds, and investment policies. 
• Alabama REALTORS® Foundation Scholarship – The Alabama REALTORS® Foundation Education Scholarship is still open for applications! The scholarship is available to children and grandchildren of active, licensed REALTOR® members. If you know of a member with an eligible child or grandchild, please be sure you share the information with them. The application deadline is December 31, 2023!
• Board Grants and Fair Housing Education– AAR has created a grant program for our local boards and associations to enhance fair housing, bias, diversity, and awareness opportunities for their members. This is a no-strings-attached grant opportunity and gives great deference to the creativity of local leadership. AAR’s Legal Team are trained instructors to teach AAR’s Fair Housing for All course and are available to teach this spring. The class is free for local associations. • 2024 Statewide Legal Forms – AAR’s Statewide Legal Forms have been a success this year and continue to grow in usage.  The 2024 Legal Forms will be released in 2024 with important updates. 
• REALTOR® Day at the Capitol: Registration for REALTOR® Day at the Capitol 2024 is open! The event will be held on February 13^th and 14^th in Montgomery, Alabama. 
• NAR Litigation Update– The Board of Directors received a briefing on the impacts and challenges with current NAR lawsuits and copycats lawsuits. 
• New Roof Design: Installation of AAR's new seamless steel roof begins in early 2024, offering a 40 to 50-year life expectancy, fewer points of entry for water intrusion, and long-term value to the Association.
