Tuscaloosa REALTOR® Julie Meggs Wins 2023 Arthur B. Pope Education Achievement
January 22, 2024
Julie Meggs understands the benefits of continuing education for REALTORS®. The Tuscaloosa broker for EXIT Capstone Realty says, “Continuing education has taken my skills as a REALTOR® to the next level and ultimately, as both a broker and instructor, has led to my ability to pass that knowledge on to others as well as increase the level of client care rendered by myself and the agents that I have the privilege of leading.” Meggs is the 2023 recipient of the Arthur B. Pope Education Achievement Award which annually recognizes a member for commitment to and participation in education programs and association activities.
The award was created by the Alabama Association of REALTORS® board in 1984. In 1991, the board named the award in memory of Pope for his tireless advocacy of professional development for REALTORS®. The Mobile REALTOR® and past AAR president will always be known as AAR’s “education president.” Nominations for the annual award are submitted by local boards/associations and can be presented to a recipient only once. Participation in designation courses, real estate seminars, education courses, instruction of a real estate subject, and participation in local, state and national association meetings results in points for nominees. Meggs earned 351 points from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.
“I feel honored that I belong to a state association of REALTORS® that places a high value on the life-long learning of its membership,” said Meggs. “I also applaud AAR’s emphasis on participation in education programs and activities that, through collaboration and cooperation, serve to increase our collective knowledge and best practices as well as advocating to improve home ownership education across the state of Alabama. The fact that I was awarded the Arthur B Pope award makes me proud of AAR for its role in promoting what is really important-- client advocacy through the elevation of our profession.
