By the time you've put your house on the market, you're probably ready to get the process over with and get it sold as quickly as possible. In reality, though, it can take an average of about 50 to 100 days to sell a house. And if your home stays on the market for too long, you can lose some of your leverage as the seller and will likely have to accept much lower offers. So swiftness is the goal. While some factors may be out of your control—like the market conditions or the age of your home—there are some things you can do to make your home sell faster. In addition to the right interior staging and strong curb appeal, Zillow found that certain home features can contribute to a speedier sale.

"When certain home features or design styles are highlighted in a listing description, they serve as a signal to a buyer that a home is appealing and up-to-date," said Amanda Pendleton, Zillow home trends expert.

Some of these home features are straight from TikTok and viral home trends, appealing to younger first-time buyers. Rounded corners (think curvy furniture and archways) made the top of the list, speeding up a home's sale time by six days. Plant ledges are the next most influential feature—likely thanks to the recent boom in houseplants and indoor gardening—and they can help a home sell more than five days faster than expected.

Another trendy feature on the list is terazzo, so if you have this material on your floors, counters, or walls, you could be in luck. Modern farmhouse style could also help you sell your house more than three days faster than expected.

But you shouldn't just go and replace all your countertops with a trendy material or buy a bunch of reclaimed wood to evoke a popular style. As the Zillow report notes, the features that help homes sell in one neighborhood may not resonate with buyers somewhere else. So, if you're looking to make some upgrades to sell your home faster, it's helpful to do some market research and work with a real estate agent for help you highlight and address the right features of your home.
