5 Furniture Trends You'll See Everywhere In 2025, According To Designers

Furniture trends for 2025 might feel like the best kind of déjà vu. We’ve welcomed comforting furnishings back into our homes over the past few years, ditched the all-white palette, and embraced highly personalized spaces where lifting a showroom display and dropping it in your den was no longer de rigueur. Those who have leaned into this warm and cozy way of decorating will be pleased to know more is on the way.

“The pendulum is swinging towards pieces that not only serve a purpose but also tell a story,” says Roxy Owens, founder of lifestyle brand Society Social. “At the heart of our decorating style is a devotion to creating layered spaces that feel like home, filled with warmth, pattern, and a sense of timelessness.”

If super personalized spaces with a cozy factor that can’t be denied sound like your aesthetic of choice, you’ll be delighted to hear more is on the way. Here Owens and Coley Hull, founder of custom furniture line Coley Home, share their top takes on furniture trends for 2025.

Customization

In the coming year, it’s not about steering toward the same old same old. Hull says custom looks will be at the forefront with fun, colorful takes on sofas, banquettes, and more. While you can go the fully custom route, many manufacturers now add customization features to their products so you can get a unique look without the custom price tag. Options like choosing your sofa’s feet style, more fabric choices, and even details like welting, skirts, and fringe can all lend a fully unique look to your furnishings and space.

Dusty, Earthy Palettes

The past few years have seen earth tones take center stage, sometimes taking a more nature-focus bend, while other times adding a rich and bibliophilic element to a space. Hull says earth tones will continue to hold court in the furniture industry, but she’s leaning toward a slightly softer take. “Everything is still very fresh, but we have some beautiful dusty pink and golden hues that we are very excited about,” she says.

Owens says this palette will extend far beyond the walls as painted furniture makes a resurgence in rich browns, earthy greens, delf blues, and cornflower.

A Fresh Take on Nostalgia

Nostalgia has a major power to evoke special memories and moments from years past, and Owens says this heartfelt sentiment will carry over into the furniture industry in 2025. “We’re embracing the beauty of intricate dressmaker details—ruffles, fringe, tape trim, bows, and braided wicker,” she explains. “All of the elements that infuse spaces with a sense of charm and character.”

Owens says we’ll continue to see roll arms and ruffle skirts remain staples, there will also be elements like woven and quilted fabrics and retro gaming chairs that celebrate the warmth of the past while working seamlessly in a modern space.

Integrating Tech

The furniture buying experience will continue to evolve in 2025. “I really believe in tech and the digital experience in the furniture industry,” says Hull. “I know there will never be a true substitute for experiencing a piece in person but I do think you can enhance the buying experience and make customers feel comfortable enough to purchase online.” Retailers and manufacturers will continue to invest in technology to give customers a better experience with tools like texture mapping, something Coley Home uses with every piece of furniture and fabric they offer. “I do feel like the furniture industry is behind in this category and there is a lot of room to grow and take market share,” she says.

Environmentally Friendly Furnishings

Where products are made as well as what materials are used isn’t so much a trend as simply an aspect of furniture that continues to gain prominence, says Hull. “At Coley Home, we manufacture every piece in our Claremont, North Carolina, facility and source our materials from companies that pass rigorous environmental and chemical testing standards,” she says. These manufacturing details can be just as important to consumers as details like style, color, and finish.
