Hal Tillman: 2024 David D. Roberts Award Recipient
December 13, 2024
Real estate has been a cornerstone of Hal Tillman’s life since childhood. His father, a home builder, often brought young Hal to construction sites — and later to the completed homes — inspiring a lifelong passion for the industry.
Now, as the 2024 recipient of the prestigious David D. Roberts Award, Tillman is recognized for his decades of dedication to Alabama REALTORS®, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and his local board. The award honors REALTORS® who have made significant contributions to the industry for more than 20 years — a standard Tillman’s longstanding career exemplifies.
With more than a dozen real estate titles, awards and certifications to his name, Tillman has made an impact at every level — local, state and national. Currently, he serves on the NAR Federation Taxation Committee, collaborating with elected officials to ensure tax policies benefit the real estate industry and its stakeholders.
“I’ve always believed that to be successful you must dedicate your time, talents and contributions to your profession to keep it on the cutting edge,” he said. “Being involved with different committees and boards has given me the opportunity to work with other real estate professionals around the state and country and develop great business and personal relationships.”
Advocacy has been a consistent theme in Tillman’s career. His efforts aim to advance the industry responsibly and inclusively, bringing unique insights as a commercial REALTOR® and business owner.
“I love that we stive to bring many voices to the table,” he said. “As a commercial REALTOR® and owner of my own company in a predominantly residential association, I appreciate the opportunity to share my perspective and network with everyone across the board.”
Tillman’s reaction to learning about his 2024 David. D. Roberts Award recognition can be summarized in one word: humbling.
“It’s incredibly humbling to be included among the past recipients of this award, many of whom I’ve admired throughout my career,” he said.
