The Alabama Economic and Real Estate Report is a monthly statistics report produced by the Alabama Association of REALTORS® and their team of economists. The numbers and figures in this report are drawn from numerous government and proprietary data sources and represent best estimates at the time of release. As new data emerges, Alabama REALTORS® may, from time to time, update these figures to reflect more recent information.

 
 

Key Takeaways from the Most Recent Report

January 2025 Report 

  • In January, Alabama had 5,259 home sales, an increase of 4.6% from the previous month and 475 more than last year.
  • The median sales price was $219,936, reflecting a 0.1% decrease month-over-month but a 4.2% annual increase.  
  • The sold volume was $1.27 billion in January, marking a 5.8% increase from last month, and a 19.8% annual increase of $0.21 billion
  • There were 17,735 active listings at the end of January, up 27.0% from the 13,968 one year ago.
  • The 442 foreclosures in January represent a 2.8% increase from the previous month but a 14.3% decrease compared to last year.
